Top 3 Keys to Permanent Weight Loss Reveled.
Just last week, this “research” study was published that says its near impossible to lose weight permanently.
I am infuriated with this piece of garbage study. All it really shows is that “diets” don’t work. You can’t “go on a diet” to lose weight and then have the mindset that once you get to your goal you’re “done.”
But that is exactly what most “diets” would have you believe. Then when you go back to eating the way you used to; you gain it back. Does that mean losing weight permanently just isn’t impossible? NO! It means that the approach that 90% of mainstream weight loss programs take is dead wrong.
News flash: There is NO END. Eating healthy is forever, or it won’t work. The same as you can’t maintain a fit body if you stop exercising! You have to KEEP GOING!
Here are my Top 3 Tips to ensure your hard work yield permanent results!
1) Do the WORK!
We all want to take the path of least resistance. But when you choose what is easy and let someone else do the work for you, you’re sabotaging your results. “That’s ok, you say, because once you’ve lost the weight, you will be able to keep it off, and it will TOTALLY be worth it!”
That, however, is not going to happen. It does not matter what “program” it is or even how healthy it is. If you are skipping all the steps and just blindly eating what is in front of you without understanding why and learning how to prepare and plan yourself, you will fail. You will be on or off a “diet” forever. The best program is one in which knowledge is being imparted, and you learn to easily prepare your own food, eat out and even travel too. Just live your life on your own terms by adopting new priorities! That’s why, as boring as it may sound, education is the cornerstone of my weight loss practice. Once you have the education, nobody can take that away from you!
2) Create a NEW normal
I believe the MOST important part of a weight loss program is sustainability. I always say that the plan someone will DO beats the “perfect” plan every single time! If you start something that you cannot do FOREVER, you have already failed.
We live in a society that is addicted to instant gratification. Is it any wonder why “juice fasts” are the latest craze? Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with making fresh juice so long as it is at least 80% vegetables, and it’s a “supplement” to a balanced diet. I’ve done a few 3 day juice cleanses myself. However, if you think juice cleanse after juice cleanse is the “easy” way to a flat tummy and quick weight loss. You will be on that diet roller coaster forever. It is what you eat day in and day out that is going to change your health and stabilize your weight long term. A quick fix won’t get you there.
3) Start at Ground Zero
Your body is a living-breathing organism, it works synergistically. If one system is out of balance, it creates a cascade of other problems. I sometimes come across clients who just want the bare bones. “Just tell me how much protein, fat and carbs I need to eat and when, in order to achieve X percent of body fat” they say. Often these clients have been eating clean and exercising like a mofo for YEARS! Never mind that they are still plagued with constipation, IBS, headaches, brutal mood swings and having problems sleeping due to adrenal fatigue from continued stress. So here is the thing. Eating clean is not always enough. If you didn’t start your healthy eating journey at what I call “ground zero,” digestion and elimination.
First thing is first, when you come to me for weight loss we are looking at you as a WHOLE. That means anything that is plaguing you. Common issues include digestion, PMS, hormonal imbalances, toxic load, adrenal fatigue, depression or food sensitivities. These MUST be addressed. If you skip this part, you will continue to struggle. Eventually, no matter how far you have come, you will end up back at ground zero when you’re finally serious about your goals and more importantly your health.
