One Last RUSH

Posted in IF General

IF_NewsletterIMGs_Jun2014Saturday April 26 2014 marked the end of an ear in Port Moody as the 10th and final edition of Suburban RUSH was held at Buntzen Lake. In attendance were 4 two-person teams from IFPM. 4 coaches and 4 members got ready to take on a grueling 30km course of trail running and mountain biking with a difficult orienteering section thrown in the mix.

Teams started by running a fast and undulating 5km trail course that weaved along Buntzen lake, across beaches, back into trails and finally to the first of 6 checkpoints at the bike corral. Once on their bikes, teams rode single track and road to Bert Flynn park. After 12km of riding teams were faced with a challenging orienteering section requiring locating 10 stations, some located in thick weeds and brush, before getting back on their bikes to finish off the ride with technical descent of Academy Trail. Once the legs were sufficiently beaten, only one obstacle remained… the ominous bouncy castle slide that teams had to go up and over on their way to RUSH glory.
