I’ve always considered myself pretty self-motivated and disciplined when it comes to exercise, but late last year I lost all of my focus. I was going through one of the toughest times of my life, and I realized I needed a little help getting back on track. I told my friends “I’ll do it for 3 months, tops.” I’m now going into my 10th month of weekly training sessions with Ben, and he might be stuck with me for life.
My goal when I started was to feel stronger (I’m a simple girl). Since then I’ve gained more confidence, I’ve been pushed harder than I thought I could be pushed, I’ve been reminded of how much fun it is to compete, I’ve made some new friends, I’ve laughed (mostly at myself) on a weekly basis, I’ve learned to love running again, and yes, I feel stronger – physically and mentally. I may have always had the discipline to get out and exercise, but Ben and the coaches at IF have shown me that it’s not just exercise. It’s actually really fun.
Since starting with IF in January of 2015, I have completed:

- Scotiabank Half Marathon – 1:50.29
- SeaWheeze Half Marathon – 1:46.46
- Kelowna Wine Country Half Marathon – 1:44.13
- Eastside 10k – 0:47.46
