Your First Day

On our first day in Reykjavik we will be arriving from the airport fairly early so we will have the day to explore the city and all it has to offer on our own or as a group. There is a lot of art galleries, concert halls and museums as well as a Viking monument and a cathedral in the middle of the city. We will be staying in a hotel hostel in shared rooms, however we will only be sharing rooms with other people from our group.

Your Second Day

On the 14th of July, our tour will begin and we will head to the Golden Circle for some sightseeing including the first geiser, waterfalls, and a national park that includes the faults of the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. We will have the option to snorkel or scuba in this national park which has some of the clearest water in the world. After that, we will head to Landmannalaugar which will be the starting point of our five day trek. We will be camping here over night and will have the opportunity to swim and hang out in a geothermal natural pool that is right beside the campsite. We will have a private car that will bring our belongings to each camp site every night so this will allow us to only pack a day pack for our hikes.

Your Third Day

The next day we will embark on the first day of our trek, going from Landmannalaugar to Alftavatn through the Laugavegur trail which is one of the most famous in Iceland. We will be hiking approximately 24 km that day which will take 8-10 hrs with a 900m ascent for the day. We will be walking through lava fields, glacier lakes, and snow packed trails.

Your Fourth Day

On our second day of the trek we will be heading from Alftavatn to Emstrur. We will have a river crossing on this hike through a glacier lake. We will be hiking 15km (approximately 6 hours) with about 40m of elevation. Once we arrive at the campsite and have dinner, we will have the opportunity to go on another little hike in the evening as the sun doesn’t set until about 11PM on Summer days in Iceland!

Your Fifth Day

On the third day of the trek we will be leaving Emstrur and heading to Porsmork where we will be crossing rivers and fields of flowers. There will a massive variety in terrains through this trek especially on this day of hiking.

Your Sixth Day

The next day will be more of a rest day in Porsmork where we will have the opportunity to go on a day hike around the Porsmork valley for approximately 4-5 hours to see a dormant glacier covered volcano, reaching our highest elevation of the entire trip. We will also have the option to hang around the campsite and relax for the day.

Your Seventh Day

The last day we will be heading from Porsmork to Reykjavik and stopping along the way to hike the Solheimajokull glacier. They will provide us with crampons and ice picks for the glacier hike. We will also be stopping by the Skogafoss waterfalls along the way back to Reykjavik for some incredible sightseeing!

Your Last Day

Once back in Reykjavik, we will have the day to relax and go explore the Blue Lagoon! This is hands down Iceland’s most famous geothermal pool. The properties of the water are incredibly rich in minerals and have many healing properties. There is also a spa at the Blue Lagoon where you can get a massage and facial or sit by the pool bar.
